Each month, January - December, you guys will have the opportunity to write a short story or poem about anything you want and enter it. The dates will be from the first day of the month, to the last. Maximum of five entries per person per month. There will be first and second place winners per month, ties are possible. Honestly, I gave up on only "1 or 2 pieces per month" there are so many awesome writiers here  Now, the winners: The winners for each month will be published in a book that will be published at the end of the year on Amazon. All the profit for said book will be given to a Cancer Research Center to assist in the fight against Cancer. Now, the only rule, if you enter a piece of fanfiction and win, I'll be asking you for a version with changed names of the characters. It's for legal purposes, which I hope all of you can understand. Otherwise, enter fanfiction as you see fit There is now only one judge myself:  Seeing it's just too hard to have them judge as well. :/ Good luck, and please enter each piece into the correct folder. <3Blake QUESTIONS: If we submit a piece and it ends up winning, will the characters in that story remain mine if I use them in personal stories that aren't entered? All characters and stories will remain the property of the author/creator. In no way am I taking these amazing pieces or characters from you in any way, all I'm doing it publishing them. This book is by you guys, I'm just doing the organizing work; otherwise, everything in this book will be by each and every one of you Where will this by published? And do we have any idea how much? So far, the only place this will be published is as an e-book on Amazon. I'm working on researching how to get it as a hard copy as well, but I'm still searching that. As for the price, I've been thinking about $5 for the e-book. $3.75 would then go to the research center while $1.25 would go to Amazon for the publishing. What will be happening to the "place holder" pieces? Will they be published in the actual book? If we have extra pages and need more pieces, yes, these will be the pieces that enter those spaces. Otherwise, at the end of the year, I'll be asking the wonderful members on here what they would like to happen to the pieces. If either they would like to publish another book that goes to a charity the isn't cancer, or if they want to publish a book where the profit goes towards making hard copies of cancer book. We'll talk more about this later. Where will the profits be going? Which cancer research center? I'm honestly unsure about this... I was driving to a soccer game the other day and saw a billboard called "Moffitt Cancer Center" (link here - [link] - to home page) I'm looking into that one, but I hope to get more ideas from you guys as well Any ideas on places? Please, drop me a note or leave a comment What will the book be called? Awww, now see here, this has not been decided. I'll be asking for ideas in a journal soon enough. So start thinking! BTW, "Write 2 Live Cancer Free" will be on the cover, but we need a real title. Like how magazines have their names like "The New York Times" or "People" we want something like that So please, any ideas, again, drop me a note.Do we have to put our real names in here? What if we don't want our real names published? No! You don't have to have your real names on your piece. If you want to use your username from here (dA) then please, feel free to do so! Have a pen name you want to use? Go for it! If you place or are going to be published, I'll be sending you a note with that question, so answer any way you wish  Where could we buy the book because I really want to help fight it and not just enter, I want to buy one or two. There aren't any books out yet. This book will be published at the end of the year while my own personal book that I'm writing for the cause isn't finished yet. I'm on chapter 9 and it's also being looked over by a beta. The fanfiction is up on my page, but I will be changing the names and adding backgrounds and stuff so it'll be different. This is my first real novel, and both will be published up on Amazon as an e-book that can be downloaded onto Ipad, Ipod, Iphone, and any kindle. As for a hard copy I'm looking into that as we speak Would stories based off songs work? I mean, it wouldn't have lyrics or anything like that but like if a song lyric said "on the forth of december" and "you came home, bloody and beaten" could we use those to base it off of? It can be based off it, yes. I see nothing wrong, as long as you don't "Steal" any thing form the song. We have a winner that uses lyrics (just look as OnixD's winning piece on the group page) from Adam Lambert. Just mention that the lyrics are the band's if you use the lyrics. But if you mean they are just your muse, and you want to write a story from "you came home bloody and beaten" about some guy coming home...well... bloody and beaten (haha) just go for it. I hope that answers your questions If you have more questions, please, let me know how long can each story be (i.e. novel size, short story)? Story size would preferably be about one deviation on here. Now, if you write a novel and want to submit it to raise money, note me about it and we can talk through it I'm personally writing a novel right now to support the cause were all profit will go to cancer research Is there a topic for this month contest? I've been wanting to enter in a contest! No, no topic. I may post journals with pictures and stuff to give inspiration, but it's totally up to you what you write If I post a picture about flowers and a beautiful spring day, for example, feel free to enter a story about death and hell and rot and decay  basically, just write whatever and post whatever does the piece have to be new and written specifically for this group or can we submit something that we've already written and posted recently? No! the piece doesn't have to be new or just for this group! If you entered a piece in another contest in another group, just throw it on in there We have pieces written from yesterday, this morning, all the way back to like three years ago Just post and enter what you're proud of Are poems allowed? Because I have a really nice poem I wrote. Poems are most def. allowed! You have no idea how many poems have been entered X) so enter as you wish, it's for all writing  Oh, and fanfics are allowed too. Like the rules said. So only short stories or small chapters, right?. How many chapters can be allowed? If the small chapters make sense alone you can enter them. But they have to tell a story alone.
